How long have you been in business?
We've been in business since 2008
What is your primary product or service?
We specialize in helping students of all ages understand and achieve better grades in Math, Science, English, and Spanish. We believe that 'no question is a dumb question', and build safe, respectful relationships with each of our students that we help. A key difference is that we teach our students to use a number of proven Learning Strategies to help improve their accuracy, study habits, and decrease their test anxiety. Our system works, and we have references to prove it!
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My background is a High School Math Teacher, and in fact, I am still in the classroom at a local community college as an Adjunct Math Instructor! I love teaching! So starting a Tutoring business to help even more students was a natural fit for me.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I think that we are unique in several respects - First, we are a very personal company with high levels of integrity. I personally meet with every family that we work with, and after listening to them, match one of my Tutors to their student for best results. Every one of our clients has my direct line with an encouragement to call me anytime about any concerns or recommendations! Secondly, we are not a large Learning Center with a burdensome overhead that requires you to both pay high prices, while also driving your child to them, then waiting for an hour or so to pick them up again. I just find that amazing that families actually do that! We make house calls! Meaning that we are truly in the serving business. Our Tutors come to your home, (or other location if that works better), work with your child, contact their teacher if appropriate so we can optimize the learning process. They will leave a summary of their tutoring each time. About every other month, you will receive a customized Learning Skills Progress Report for your child, along with other relevant observations and comments from your Tutor. Thirdly, we are highly flexible in our scheduling, willing to make adjustments as we can to match the changes in your schedule. Fourth, I would put my Tutors up against anyone! I have very high academic and personal standards for each Tutor that we consider. Most folks that apply to work with us, do not get an interview. Beyond the academic qualifications, beyond the experience, our Tutors are very personable, engaging, patient, and caring individuals who really want to see your child succeed! We have excellent communication with each of my Tutors and with all of our clients. Any client can call me up at anytime, and know that they can talk to me directly about any concern they may have. I make a direct follow up call with each new client after a week or so to see if they have any questions or concerns. It is normal for them to rave about how things are going! We have a Referral Reward program that could conceivably let a family obtain free tutoring sessions! Much of our new business this past year has been from word of mouth referrals! I treasure that.
